A Chess.com veteran and newcomer will contest Death Match 25 - IM Yaacov Norowitz and GM Boris Avrukh. They both qualified based on their play during the April qualification period

The three-hour match of bullet and blitz chess will be played on Chess.com and the date is Sunday, June 22

Hitting that magic age of thirty, I have concerns about my role in chess, my chosen profession. Many consider me a blitz specialist, not a top competitor in professional chess. I am a USCF Life Master, and my rating recently crossed the 2600 mark, but I lacked the IM and GM credentials. I could see the absence of international titles limiting my access to interesting invitational's with opportunities to play the world's best players.

We came down to Chelsea Heights School and Atlantic City play Chess Day at Chelsea Heights School Wednesday, Feb 13, 2013.

ATLANTIC CITY - It's Chess Day at the Chelsea Heights Elementary School and students from all over Atlantic City were there to play rounds of the game.


In only it's second year the event has grown to include around 100 children.


Chess is becoming so popular with Atlantic City's students, that the principal says they are planning a district wide chess tournament.


Today the students also received lessons from an international master chess player.
